Personal Electronic Devices at School
These days, it feels like everyone has a phone, tablet, or smart watch within arm’s reach. Of course, technology can be helpful, especially for parents who want the peace of mind of knowing their child can check in on the way to and from school.
That said, devices can also bring challenges in a school setting. Phones and smartwatches are a distraction in class, interrupt learning, and even raise privacy concerns. To keep our school environment focused and respectful, here’s what families need to know:
Best case, leave it at home: If possible, we’d prefer that students do not bring phones, smart watches or other electronic devices to school.
If a device is necessary: It must be powered off (not on silent or vibrate) during the school day and kept in the student’s bag.
School WiFi: Is for adults only. Students are not permitted to access any of the school's Wi-Fi networks on personal devices.
Smartwatches: Students may wear them, but they must not be connected to wi-fi or cellular data while at school.
Office phone always available: Students are welcome to use the school phone if they need to reach you.
Asking to use a phone: If a child needs to call home on their personal device due to extenuating circumstances, they must first ask a staff member for permission to do so.
*These rules apply throughout the day, as well as during after-school events, field trips and extracurricular activities.
If a student does not follow these expectations, their device will be confiscated by school administration. Devices will only be returned to a parent or guardian.

We appreciate your support in helping us create a learning environment where students can focus on what really matters—growing, learning, and building friendships.
