Orange Shirt Day September 30th
Families of Star of the Sea School,
This coming Wednesday, September 30th, is Orange Shirt Day.
As stated on the Orange Shirt Day website, “The events were designed to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation.”
Our own Archbishop Miller, at the end of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission stated:
To mark this day and continue this good work, students at Star of the Sea School are invited to participate in an “Orange Shirt” non-uniform day. We will have a “virtual” school assembly with stories and videos to teach the children the significance of the day. All of this will be carefully crafted to teach the students this important content in an age-appropriate way. If you don’t have an orange shirt, don’t worry, just wear something close like red or yellow.
Thank you for participating!
