Cross Country Update and Meet Invitation

Families and Friends of Star of the Sea School,

Being new to this school I had never experienced a Star of the Sea Cross Country practice. When I stepped outside this morning was I ever impressed! The enthusiasm of students, parents, and coaches was truly astounding. Congratulations to everyone for such a joyful and effective program. Our students are truly blessed to have this opportunity, as we all are.

We are taking precautions and working within COVID safety recommendations. Students are running in their cohorts when possible and being spaced as necessary. Our kids are safe, fun, and fit!

We have two more morning practices. Grades 4 & 5 will have their morning practice at 8am on Monday, October 19th. Grades 6 & 7 will have their morning practice at 8am on Tuesday, October 20th.

Our big Star of the Sea Cross Country Meet will look different than usual this year. Our students will run a route around the school campus, ending with a big finish under our tent. Classes will be outside to cheer on their friends. Parents are welcomed to come and watch and cheer from outside the fence. Please come out and support our team. The meet will take place on Thursday, October 22nd. Races times are as follows:

Gr. 7   9:15 am  (2 km)      Boys/ Girls ONE RACE

Gr. 6   9:45 am  (2 km)      Boys/ Girls ONE RACE

Gr. 5  10:30 am (1.6 km)     Boys/ Girls ONE RACE

There are so many staff members to thank for making this program work. Many staff members have committed to helping at practices and on race day. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Bouvier for coordinating our team and taking the lead in planning our meet.

Sincerely,

Mr. Borkowski
