COVID Safety Practices at Star of the Sea School 2021/2022

September 2nd, 2021

Parents and Friends of Star of the Sea School,

The 2020/2021 school year began when the world was still reeling from the first and second waves of COVID-19. There were still many unknowns about the virus: how exactly it spread, what measures were effective in slowing the spread, what measures were redundant and ineffective, and most importantly, how to stop it through a vaccine.

We now live a very different world. Many of the routines that were established during the most heightened period of COVID-19 have become commonplace. Other practices were discarded as they proved to be ineffective. Most importantly, a vaccine rollout has proven to be incredibly effective in vastly reducing serious illness and death.

The Provincial Public Health Officer, WorkSafe BC, the Ministry of Education, and the CISVA have revised the instructions on how we will operate schools this year to reflect the reality of living with COVID-19 in September of 2021. Our hope is that we will continue to provide a safe but warm and natural environment in which students can learn together.

Star of the Sea School was blessed to have had a very successful and safe school year in 2020/2021 with zero COVID exposures at school. This was due to the cooperation and communication of students, staff, and parents. If you ever have any questions or concerns about our COVID safety plans, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Sincerely, Mr. Jason Borkowski Principal
