What's Going on in Grade 5? Episode 4!
Hello, again, Grade 5 Parents!
It’s been a while since I’ve uploaded another episode. During most of March we were busy with filming the Passion Play and it was a huge success! The students knocked it out of the park and didn’t seem camera shy. 😀 If you somehow missed it, please let me know and I can send the Passion Play link again.
Lately, the class has been reading the novel Holes. We will soon be watching the movie (email soon to follow regarding permission for your child to view the movie). We are now moving onto Poetry! I encourage your child to bring any books and/or print-outs of their favourite poems to share in class. This isn’t a requirement - just a way to foster an appreciation for the spoken arts. In the meantime, they will be busy with writing and reading poetry.
We’ve been “science-ing” quite a bit. We wrapped up solubility and are now exploring how the human body systems do their thing. Digestion is always a fun and gross topic to learn!
In Social Studies we are learning about how Canada’s government works. Students will eventually hold their own elections and will experience what it’s like to participate in the voting booth.
In Math, we have started division and I highly recommend your child practices division facts at home, when possible. I have posted videos and a link to division practice on Google Classroom for them, as well. This can be accessed at home.
Be sure to check out how we’ve been “science-ing” in the latest instalment of “What’s Going on in Grade 5?”!
