Staffing Updates for the 2026/2027 School Year

As we look ahead to the 2026/2027 school year, I wanted to share some important staffing updates with you. These changes reflect both new opportunities for our staff and the natural transitions that come with a school community as vibrant as ours.

Retiring and moving on to new adventures

We will be saying farewell to several beloved staff members who have given so much to our school community:

Ms. Dorita Gaspar is retiring after an incredible 40 years of dedicated service to Star of the Sea

Mrs. Sharon Pollock is retiring after 28 wonderful years with our school

Mrs. Katrina Figueroa will be moving on to teach closer to her home

We are deeply grateful for the countless ways these educators have shaped the lives of our students and enriched our school community. Their legacies will continue to inspire us for years to come.

Exciting Internal Moves

Several of our talented staff members will be taking on new roles next year:

Mrs. Kimberly Mootoosawmy, currently our Librarian, will become one of our Inclusive Education Teachers. Kimberly's expertise and unwavering commitment to supporting every student makes her perfectly suited for this important role.

Mrs. Stephanie Smith, currently our School Counsellor, will step into the role of PHE Teacher and Athletic Director. Stephanie brings a strong athletic background, exceptional organizational skills, and valuable classroom experience to this position.

Mrs. Antonella MacGillivray will be moving to Grade 1

Ms. Joan Koh will be moving to Grade 6

Mrs. Miriam Campagne will be moving to Grade 1

Mrs. Jacqui Thomson will be moving to Grade 3

Welcoming New Faces

We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Kathy Mills as our new Grade 7 teacher. Mrs. Mills brings excellent experience and enthusiasm to our team. She has been the Grade 7 teacher at Blessed Sacrament School in Vancouver for the past 11 years. We know Mrs. Mills will be a wonderful addition to our school community.

I am excited about the year ahead and have tremendous confidence in our dedicated team of educators.

If you have any questions about these staffing changes, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
