RAZ Kids

Digital Reading Program

A letter with login information for RAZ Kids was sent home today in your child’s planner. This resource provides a digital library of levelled material for students to access online or via a downloadable application. Students have been placed in levels appropriate to their ability. For your convenience log-in information will also be taped to the front inside cover of your child’s planner.

In the app, students should spend the majority of their time in the ‘Level-Up’ section. Each book should be listened to, then read by the student. In the beginning, most students will be memorizing and using pictures to tell the story. This is typical. Students should focus on text direction, and listening for understanding. Each book also has a corresponding quiz to build comprehension skills. All books in the level must be completed in order to move on to the next level.

This tool is very valuable and provides a wealth of fiction and non-fiction material for young readers in a highly motivational format. We recommend that students use RAZ Kids 2-3 times per week, for approximately 15-20 minutes. Of course, this resource is meant to supplement, not replace, reading traditional (paper) books. This simply provides a variety of material that is ‘just right’ for your child’s development as a reader. Please continue to read all your favourite books at home and visit the library.
