Outdoor Play in Rainy Weather — Please Send Appropriate Clothing

As we settle into another season of classic Greater Vancouver weather, we want to remind families that outdoor play remains an important part of each school day. Fresh air, movement, and unstructured play are essential for students’ well-being, even when the skies are a little grey.

What to Bring

Please ensure your child comes to school with weather-appropriate clothing so they can comfortably enjoy outdoor time. This includes:

  • A warm, waterproof coat

  • Sturdy shoes suitable for wet ground

  • Optional: Rain boots, if your child prefers them

  • For colder days: Gloves and a warm hat to help keep them comfortable

Having the right layers makes all the difference and helps students stay warm, dry, and ready to learn.

When We Stay Indoors

We will only keep classes inside on very rainy or extremely cold days.
Typical Greater Vancouver drizzle—or even a steady rainfall—still counts as outdoor-play eligible. Our goal is to build resilience, honour children’s need for movement, and make the most of our beautiful West Coast environment.

Thank you for your support in helping students stay comfortable and active outdoors throughout the year! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office.
