Nov. 17 Covid Update from Mr. Borkowski
Parents and Friends of Star of the Sea School,
As you are already aware, our school has joined the rest of the world in having to deal with Covid exposures over the past month. It has been challenging at times but I believe it is important to stay positive and focus on the things we have to be grateful for. Our school continues to be a safe place where kids are learning everyday. I am so thankful for the dedication of our students and staff who continue to work so hard even during trying times. The understanding, support, and trust of the parent community continues to edify the staff and helps us to persevere.
We continue to follow Covid safety guidelines and, with the advice of Fraser Health, are taking a few extra measures to mitigate the chance of transmission at school. There will be no further school-wide gatherings from now until Christmas Break. We are working on having class or grade level Masses instead of school-wide Masses. Sadly, our choir has been put on pause until the New Year. We are planning a cautious approach as we near the beginning of basketball season. All other measures such as hand washing, mask wearing, more fresh air, and using outside walkways continue to be in place.
Most importantly, do not send your child to school with any of the symptoms of covid. I am sorry but we cannot allow any symptomatic children at school and your child will be sent home immediately if they have any symptoms.
To end on a positive note: I am sooooo excited about Christmas at the Drive In! I hope every single school family takes this opportunity to celebrate together in a safe and unique way. It really looks like a memory making event that no one should miss.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jason Borkowski
Principal
