NEW Fraser Health Order on Mask Wearing in ALL Surrey Schools
Parents and Friends of Star of the Sea School,
On March 26th, Fraser Health issued a Public Health Order requiring all adults and Gr. 4 to 7 students in Surrey Public Schools to wear masks when indoors. The wording of this order did not definitively include independent schools like ours and we were instructed to continue our existing COVID Safety Plan procedures while “encouraging and supporting” mask wearing.
Today, Fraser Health re-issued the March 26th Health Order and removed the ambiguity regarding independent and Francophone schools. The current Order includes all schools located in Surrey. I have included the entirety of the Order here.
In summary, this new Health Order requires (with a few special exceptions) all adults and Gr. 4 to 7 students to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when indoors at school. It also requires the school to strongly recommend mask wearing for students in Grades Kindergarten to Grade 3.
I appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this new Health Order.
Please pray for an end to COVID-19 and for all our government officials burdened with the responsibility for making such difficult decisions.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jason Borkowski
Principal
