Home Reading
For May and June, our ‘homework’ focus will be reading. You can choose to read to your child, have them read to you, or both; whichever suits your child and your family time best. You are welcome to choose your own interest-based reading materials from the library or your home collection. RAZ Kids is also available, so log in and use the wide variety of materials available there as well (sign-in credentials can be found on the inside cover of your child’s planner).
Crowning of Mary Assembly
Kindergarten will be hosting the Crowning of Mary Assembly on May 30th at 9:00 am. All children will be participating and will have a speaking part (large or small) based on their comfort level. A copy of their lines will be sent home in their planner to practice. Please emphasize volume, clarity and appropriate speed for public speaking. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you have a planned absence (vacation) on May 30th and already know your child will not be at school that day, please let us know ASAP so we can plan accordingly.
Sight Words
We have been pleased to see so many children have been practicing their sight words at home and parents have been notifying us when they are ready to ‘show what they know’. Continued practice with these commonly used words will ensure your child’s reading success and readiness for Grade One.
