Kindergarten May News

Friday, May 6 - In-School Retreat Day for Students

This Friday, we will be having an in-school retreat with a special focus on our Blessed Mother Mary. Mass will be at 11:00 am, and Rosary will be at 2:15 pm, both at the church. All are welcome. Please send a rosary to school with your child on Friday for this very special day.

We will not have gym class on Friday, so make sure that your child comes to school dressed in full uniform, including their school sweater.

Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for the food bank to school tomorrow. We will bring these donations to mass with us tomorrow.

Crowning of Mary

Last week, your child’s part in our upcoming Crowning of Mary assembly was sent home in their planner. According to their preference, some children have speaking parts, others have non-speaking roles. Please continue to help your child rehearse their speaking part (if applicable). Contact us if you need another copy of this.

Parents and family members are invited to join us for this special celebration honouring Mary on May 13 at 9 am in our school gym.

Each kindie is asked to bring a flower for Mary on this day.

Seesaw

Within the next couple of days, you will receive an invitation via email to access your child’s Seesaw learning portfolio. As the students have gained independence, we have started using this tool to supplement and extend in-class learning. You will be able to see some of your child’s work products as well as photos, videos and audio recordings. Through the Seesaw family app, you can even interact with your child’s learning by liking their work or sending them text and audio comments. Please log in to see their work before June 15th, as class work will be archived before the summer.

I’m a Gift from God

We are continuing with the I’m a Gift from God program throughout May. Please refer to Parent package for home lessons/homework and the schedule of concepts below. Please complete only the assigned work for the week, no more. See the attached parent letter describing the program in more detail.

Home Reading

For May and June, our ‘homework’ focus will be reading. You can choose to read to your child, have them read to you, or both. Whichever suits your child and your family time best. You are welcome to choose your own interest-based reading materials; however, we have attached some skill-based reading activities for the month to help supplement your home collection. RAZ Kids is also available, so log in and use the wide variety of materials available there as well (sign-in credentials can be found on the inside cover of your child’s planner).
