How do I "parent" on the playground?

After school, we do not have staff supervisors on the playground, so it is the responsibility of each parent to watch over their own child. To help keep everyone safe and avoid misunderstandings, we ask parents to focus first on supervising their own children. We recognize that situations sometimes arise where another child’s actions may directly affect your child’s safety, and in those moments it is natural to step in. If this happens, please do so respectfully and, whenever possible, bring concerns to the attention of the other parent rather than addressing the child directly. We also encourage you to use this after-school time to connect with other parents. Building relationships, understanding, and trust with one another will make it easier to handle issues when they arise and will strengthen our school community as a whole.
