Great Start to the School Year Message from Mr. Borkowski
Parents and Friends of Star of the Sea School,
I am in my 25th year as an educator. Combined with 8 years of elementary school, 5 years of high school, 5 years of university, and 2 years in post-graduate studies, that is a lots of Septembers going “back to school.”
A couple weeks ago I was sitting with my brother and he asked me "Is your life a little like 'groundhog day'? Every year, back to school, the same over and over and over again..." I had to admit, this gave me food for thought.
Upon further consideration it occurred to me that everyone's life can be that way if you let it be. One of the things I love about being a teacher and administrator is that there are endless ways to be creative each year. Especially in my role as a Principal I can find new ways to bring out the best in my school everyday. It's fun, and only gets repetitive if you let it. I successfully rationalized myself into not thinking my life is not boring after all!
But then the school year started. The energy I can feel in our school this year is the best I've experienced in many Septembers. I think it's a combination of seeing my co-workers after a summer apart, new staff, new students, new parents, and increased administrative support (welcome aboard 100% VP) that has made this year feel some how light, fresh, and energizing. I'm genuinely excited about what this year has in store for us.
I hope you will all join us for our AGM and Meet the Teacher Night on Wednesday, September 13th to learn more about the new people and things to look forward to this school year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Borkowski
