Fees and Tuition Announcement from the PEC

Families of Star of the Sea School,

Every year the Parish Education Committee is tasked with determining tuition fees for the coming year.  This year, in addition to nominally increasing tuition, we are incorporating the start of the year Book and Activity Fees into tuition.  As a result, your tuition will appear to have increased significantly, when in net total your expenses have only increased an average of $9 per month per student.

There are several advantages to rolling the Book and Activity Fees into tuition:

1)    Expenses are spread over the entire year instead of up-front

2)    Start-of-the-year fees will now be included in calculating your income tax donation amount

3)    The real cost of attending our school is transparent for prospective families

In addition to these changes, there are two other changes for you to be aware of:

1)    After careful review of our timetable and calendar, we have been able to increase the minutes attributable to our “Overall Religious” percentage, thus increasing the amount of your tuition that will be considered a charitable donation for tax purposes.  This will be reflected in your 2021 donation receipts.

2)    To adhere more closely to the tuition structure of other local Catholic schools, and be fairer and more affordable, Category 1 families with three students in the school will see a new rate for their third child.  This rate is a recognition of the high cost of Catholic education for larger families.
