Our Holiday Traditions
The Christmas Traditions posters were wonderful! The students put in a great deal of effort, and it was lovely to see the pride they took in sharing their family traditions. We learned so much about one another, and it was a meaningful way to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of our class.
During Advent, our class takes time each day to prepare our hearts for Christmas. We light the candles on our Advent wreath and listen to Bible stories, adding an ornament to our Jesse Tree each day. Through these stories, we learn about important figures in our faith who teach us about patience, strength, and trust in God.
Our class recently wrapped up our Holidays Around the World social studies unit, and it was a wonderful learning experience for everyone. Students explored holiday traditions from a variety of countries while building skills in reading comprehension, geography, and social studies. We also added a fine arts component and enjoyed creative writing by composing postcards from each country we “visited.” To celebrate the end of the unit, we held a festive piñata party, complete with a small souvenir representing each country. It was an exciting and memorable way to bring our global learning together!
