Air Quality and Outdoor Play at Star of the Sea School

Local wildfires have reduced air quality in our region. At Star of the Sea School, we follow the guidance of Fraser Health to determine when it is safe for children to be outdoors. We also use the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) chart (see below) as a guideline.

  • When AQHI levels enter the High Risk category, students will remain indoors.

  • Our classrooms are equipped with brand-new, high-grade air filters, which keep indoor air quality very good.

  • When outdoor play is safe, we will continue to encourage it, but adjustments may be made depending on conditions and individual student needs (especially for children with asthma or other sensitivities).

The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and adjust as needed.
