3 Way Conferences and Parent/Teacher Interviews

Dear Parents and Guardians,

After careful reflection and discussion, we will be making a change to the format of our upcoming conferences on Thursday, October 23.

As you know, 3-Way Conferences—where students, parents, and teachers meet together—are an important part of our approach to learning. They help students reflect on their progress, take ownership of their learning, and share their goals in their own voice.

However, we recognize that October is quite early in the school year for many of our youngest students to be ready for this type of conference. In addition, we want to ensure that parents of our youngest learners have the opportunity for direct, information-rich conversations with teachers about their child’s learning and development.

To best support our students and families this fall:

  • Intermediate grades (Gr. 4-7) will continue with the 3-Way Conference format.

    • Students in Grades 4-7 must attend this meeting with their parents

  • Primary grades (K-3) will have Parent/Teacher Interviews instead.

    • This meeting is for parents and teachers only.

Childcare is available in the Learning Commons for children aged 4 and up.

We will review how it goes before deciding on future conference formats.
